A VCA exam is designed for people who work in occupations where safety is important, such as construction sites or factories. These are often places where you work with dangerous machinery or materials. The exam is specifically for employees, supervisors and self-employed workers to demonstrate that they know how to work safely and how to prevent accidents.
There are three main types of exams: VCA, VCA and VIL-VCU. In addition, there are a number of variants. For example, there is also an exam VCA, specifically for people working in green sectors, such as landscapers, foresters, and employees in landscaping. This variant of the VCA is tailored to the unique risks and safety situations one may encounter in this particular sector.
In addition, there are several variations on the exams. For example, you can take exams in many different languages or choose a read-aloud exam. This variant is also convenient for people with dyslexia. You get 75 minutes instead of 60 minutes for a B-VCA exam.
Bring a valid form of identification to the VCA exam. This can be a passport, identity card or driver's license. You cannot participate in the exam without valid identification. So don't forget it!
You can cancel the exam up to 24 hours before the start of the exam. If you wish to cancel within 24 hours before the exam, you will be charged the full exam fee.
Want to cancel a company exam? You can do so up to 1 week before the exam. If you cancel between 1 and 7 days before the exam, you will be charged 40,- per exam. If you cancel within 24 hours before the start, you will be charged 80,- per exam. See also the general terms and conditions.
When scheduling your exam, you can choose an exam location. After booking the exam you will receive all the details by email.
In addition to your ID, you will also need your proof of registration. Nothing else is required. The exams are administered digitally. Phones are not allowed.
You can apply for a duplicate diploma. Please note that this does incur a cost. Apply for a duplicate diploma.
The cost depends on the choices you make. How do you want to prepare for the exam and which exam do you want to take?
We have listed the costs for you on the page: VCA-certificate costs
VIL-VCU is a special exam for people who work at staffing agencies and send temporary workers to work sites. This exam teaches them about safety and health so they can make sure temporary workers are working safely. The VIL-VCU exam is also about how to make sure others are working safely.
The Basic Safety VCA Green exam is based on the same final and testing requirements as those of the standard Basic Safety VCA. The difference is that the Basic VCA Green exam contains a maximum of 20 'green colored' questions randomly distributed throughout the exam. Successful candidates receive the same diploma as candidates of a Basic Safety SCC VCA.
VCA stands for Basic Safety VCA and is primarily for employees who deal with safety on the job. It teaches them about basic safety and how to keep themselves and others safe. VCA, which stands for Safety for Operational Managers, is for people who are managers. This exam goes deeper into safety and teaches them how to make a safe work environment for their team.
All VCA are recorded in the VCA. Also called the VCA. Through the VCA you can look up whether a person or company is VCA. You can also use the VCA to check how long your certificate is still valid.
VCA-exams test whether you know how to work safely. The exams are designed to ensure that workers, supervisors and contractors in high-risk industrial environments such as construction, manufacturing and engineering services have essential safety, health and environmental knowledge. This helps reduce workplace accidents and creates a safer work environment.
In this exam, the questions and answer options are read aloud by a computer. This helps if you have dyslexia, for example, or if reading is just difficult for you. You also get some extra time to answer the questions. The read-aloud exam ensures that everyone gets a fair chance to pass their VCA certificate.
An individual exam is also called an open exam. This means that you take the exam independently at a VCA-exam location.
For all exams, you must answer at least 64.5% of the questions correctly to pass.
For all exams, you must answer at least 64.5% of the questions correctly to pass.
The validity period of the pre-reading exam is the same as the regular VCA exam. The exam is valid for 10 years.
The best preparation varies from person to person. In general, the success rate is highest among candidates who have taken an VCA.
Your certificate will be included in the VCA(CDR). This makes it easier for employers to verify that you hold a valid VCA. You can also consult the register yourself to look up until when your certificate is valid.
After completing the exam, you can immediately see which questions you did not answer correctly. Review the questions that were answered incorrectly. Schedule another exam, and repeat the lessons. You can also choose to still take an VCA.
VCA stands for Safety, Health and Environment Checklist Contractors. The checklist is a questionnaire developed as a screening system. The "contractors" are companies that perform work for - and on behalf of others (clients). VCA is intended to increase safety in and around the place of work for both employers and employees.
Companies can be certified at different levels depending on the nature and complexity of the activities, namely VCA*, VCA** and VCA Petrochemical. On the SSVV website there is a simple tool to determine the certification level.

Yes. In the Netherlands and Belgium, VCA is applied. In Germany and some other European countries, the SCC system that stands for "Safety Certification Contractors" applies. There are some differences in regulations, which can vary from country to country. A Dutch VCA is usually also accepted in Belgium, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and France.
VCA is not mandated by the Dutch government. But many companies do require employees to have or obtain a VCA diploma. For good reason. The purpose of a VCA is to work in a safe, healthy and environmentally friendly manner to prevent industrial accidents and injuries. This benefits everyone.
Yes. B-VCA is for employees in environments where safety is important. VOL-VCA is for executives and VIL-VCU is specifically for employment agencies that place people in environments where VCA is common.
The MVK and HVK diplomas are equivalent to the VCA, but only if the holder of the diploma must work in an environment where safe working is required. Often, Safety Experts take the VCA exam anyway because it means they have fewer problems "at the gate" with companies that require VCA . After all, you are not registered in the Central Diploma Register (CDR) with an MVK-HVK diploma.
