Modified forms of exam theoretical examination F-gases

Is a standard theory exam not appropriate for a candidate to properly take the exam? Then there are several options to still take the F-gases exam.

  • Regular exam with extra time in case of dyslexia
  • Reading Exam
  • Individual guided exam

Regular F-gas exam and dyslexia

A candidate with dyslexia or with reading difficulties can request 30 minutes of extra time on a regular CBT (Computer Based Testing) theory exam F-gases.

Cost
There is no additional cost for the time extension. A (dyslexia) statement is not required.

Reading Exam

A candidate with dyslexia, language or reading problems can take the read-aloud theory exam F-gases at PBNA in Zwijndrecht or at TopTowers in Almere. The candidate takes the exam as regular by means of CBT (Computer Based Testing) and has to fill in the answers himself digitally. There is a second screen available from which the exam leader clearly reads the text. The candidate takes the same exam as regular candidates with time extension, no content exemptions are granted. Questions about the content of the tested material are not possible. The exam is administered individually. The candidate has 1.5 hours for the reading examination.

Cost
There are additional costs associated with the pre-reading exam. A (dyslexia) statement is not required to participate in the pre-reading exam. The exam date and time will be determined in consultation with the candidate or client.

If interpretation is desired, PBNA can be contacted to request an interpreter for the reading exam. The questions and answer options are presented in Dutch. The interpreter will only translate the questions and answer options. The answers must be completed by the candidate.

There is an additional cost for this read-aloud exam with an interpreter. This fee must be paid prior to the exam.

Individual guided reading exam

A candidate with dyslexia, reading problems, exam anxiety or fear of failure, can take the theoretical exam F-gases under individual guidance at PBNA in Zwijndrecht. This exam is taken by an examiner of PBNA. A supervisor is also present during the exam.

Examiner guidance consists of explaining the examination process. Questions may be asked in case of ambiguities. For example, when a word or phrase is not clear. Questions about the content of the tested material are not possible. There is also no translation by the examiner. The aim is to maintain a calm atmosphere during the exam so that optimal performance can be achieved.

The candidate takes the same exam as other candidates, no exemptions are granted in terms of content.

The individually supervised examination is designed for candidates who:

  • suffer from dyslexia, exam anxiety or fear of failure
  • need more time and guidance, such as with a cognitive disorder, such as autism or PDD-NOS
  • Have already tried two other exams and just can't pass
  • have difficulty with the Dutch language

How the exam goes:

  • You sit in a separate exam room
  • You will be supervised by an examiner from PBNA
  • You decide when you want to move on to the next question
  • If you do not understand a question, you can tell the examiner. The examiner may ask the question in a different wording
  • You have 1.5 hours for this exam
