  • Are there differences in VCA-exams by region or country?

    Yes. In the Netherlands and Belgium, VCA is applied. In Germany and some other European countries, the SCC system that stands for "Safety Certification Contractors" applies. There are some differences in regulations, which can vary from country to country. A Dutch VCA is usually also accepted in Belgium, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and France.

  • Are there VCA-exams during evenings or weekends?

    Yes, you can also take VCA-exam in the evening or on Saturday.

  • Are VCA exams available in languages other than Dutch and English?

    Yes, the exams are also available in other languages. In fact, VCA is available in 19 different languages!

  • Are there VCA-courses I can take before the exam?

    There are many course providers. PBNA is an examination body and does not offer courses itself. However, we do help you prepare optimally for the VCA exam with the VCA books and mock exams. You can also order these at the same time as the VCA exam as a combination package.

  • Are there restrictions on the number of times I can take a VCA exam?

    No. If you do not pass the VCA exam you can always reschedule an exam.

  • Who should take a VCA exam?

    A VCA exam is designed for people who work in occupations where safety is important, such as construction sites or factories. These are often places where you work with dangerous machinery or materials. The exam is specifically for employees, supervisors and self-employed workers to demonstrate that they know how to work safely and how to prevent accidents.

  • What VCA are there?

    There are three main types of exams: VCA, VCA and VIL-VCU. In addition, there are a number of variants. For example, there is also an exam VCA, specifically for people working in green sectors, such as landscapers, foresters, and employees in landscaping. This variant of the VCA is tailored to the unique risks and safety situations one may encounter in this particular sector.

    In addition, there are several variations on the exams. For example, you can take exams in many different languages or choose a read-aloud exam. This variant is also convenient for people with dyslexia. You get 75 minutes instead of 60 minutes for a B-VCA exam.

  • What topics are covered in a VCA exam?

  • What identification do I need to take a VCA exam?

    Bring a valid form of identification to the VCA exam. This can be a passport, identity card or driver's license. You cannot participate in the exam without valid identification. So don't forget it!

  • What are the cancellation requirements for a VCA exam?

    You can cancel the exam up to 24 hours before the start of the exam. If you wish to cancel within 24 hours before the exam, you will be charged the full exam fee.

    Want to cancel a company exam? You can do so up to 1 week before the exam. If you cancel between 1 and 7 days before the exam, you will be charged 40,- per exam. If you cancel within 24 hours before the start, you will be charged 80,- per exam. See also the general terms and conditions.

  • What are the address details of the VCA?

    When scheduling your exam, you can choose an exam location. After booking the exam you will receive all the details by email.

  • What should I bring to the VCA exam?

    In addition to your ID, you will also need your proof of registration. Nothing else is required. The exams are administered digitally. Phones are not allowed.

  • What should I do if I lose my VCA certificate?

    You can apply for a duplicate diploma. Please note that this does incur a cost. Apply for a duplicate diploma.

  • How much does it cost to get your VCA certificate?

    The cost depends on the choices you make. How do you want to prepare for the exam and which exam do you want to take?

  • What is the difference between VIL-VCU and other VCA exams?

    VIL-VCU is a special exam for people who work at staffing agencies and send temporary workers to work sites. This exam teaches them about safety and health so they can make sure temporary workers are working safely. The VIL-VCU exam is also about how to make sure others are working safely.

  • What is the difference between the B-VCA exam and the B-VCA-Green exam?

    The Basic Safety VCA Green exam is based on the same final and testing requirements as those of the standard Basic Safety VCA. The difference is that the Basic VCA Green exam contains a maximum of 20 'green colored' questions randomly distributed throughout the exam. Successful candidates receive the same diploma as candidates of a Basic Safety SCC VCA.

     

  • What is the difference between B-VCA and VOL-VCA?

    VCA stands for Basic Safety VCA and is primarily for employees who deal with safety on the job. It teaches them about basic safety and how to keep themselves and others safe. VCA, which stands for Safety for Operational Managers, is for people who are managers. This exam goes deeper into safety and teaches them how to make a safe work environment for their team.

  • What is the VCA?

    All VCA are recorded in the VCA. Also called the VCA. Through the VCA you can look up whether a person or company is VCA. You can also use the VCA to check how long your certificate is still valid.

  • What is the purpose of a VCA exam?

    VCA-exams test whether you know how to work safely. The exams are designed to ensure that workers, supervisors and contractors in high-risk industrial environments such as construction, manufacturing and engineering services have essential safety, health and environmental knowledge. This helps reduce workplace accidents and creates a safer work environment.

You also get some extra time to answer the questions. The read-aloud exam ensures that everyone gets a fair chance to pass their VCA certificate.

    An individual exam is also called an open exam. This means that you take the exam independently at a VCA-exam location.

  • What is a passing score for the VCA exam?

    For all exams, you must answer at least 64.5% of the questions correctly to pass.

    The validity period of the pre-reading exam is the same as the regular VCA exam. The exam is valid for 10 years.

    The best preparation varies from person to person. In general, the success rate is highest among candidates who have taken an VCA.

  • What happens after I receive my VCA certificate?

    Your certificate will be included in the VCA(CDR). This makes it easier for employers to verify that you hold a valid VCA. You can also consult the register yourself to look up until when your certificate is valid.

  • What happens if I fail the VCA exam?

    After completing the exam, you can immediately see which questions you did not answer correctly. Review the questions that were answered incorrectly. Schedule another exam, and repeat the lessons. You can also choose to still take an VCA.

  • What does VCA mean?

    VCA stands for Safety, Health and Environment Checklist Contractors. The checklist is a questionnaire developed as a screening system. The "contractors" are companies that perform work for - and on behalf of others (clients). VCA is intended to increase safety in and around the place of work for both employers and employees.

    Companies can be certified at different levels depending on the nature and complexity of the activities, namely VCA*, VCA** and VCA Petrochemical. On the SSVV website there is a simple tool to determine the certification level.

     

     

  • When did I pass the VCA?

    VCA does not work with scores. The caesura (the boundary between failing or passing) is determined according to the table below:

  • How many questions does the VCA consist of?

  • On what days and times are the VCA?

    It depends on the exam you register for. You can take the VCA exams in the morning, afternoon, evening and even on weekends.

  • My details are not registered correctly in the Central Diploma Register.

  • Can I take a VCA exam online?

    No, you cannot take the VCA exam online. The exam must be taken at an official exam site under the supervision of an examiner. This is to ensure that the exam is fair and that everyone takes it under the same conditions. The exam locations are set up to provide a good and safe exam environment. There you are assigned a computer on which to take the exam, and there is always someone there to help you if you have questions or experience technical difficulties.

  • Can I view my VCA exam results online?

    You can see online if you passed your VCAthat you took through PBNA at vca You can only see which questions you answered incorrectly if you have just completed your exam. You will not see what the correct answers should have been. Would you like to review your exam afterwards? Then you can use the application form to make an appointment to review the exam under supervision. It is then also possible to object to the content of one or more questions.

  • Can I dispute my VCA exam results?

    If you disagree with the exam results, you can submit a written objection. You can read more about it in the regulations on complaints, objections and appeals.

  • Can I view my exam?

    For a number of exams administered by PBNA, it is possible to inspect the exam at our office on a mutually agreed date. Download the inspection form which also contains the inspection rules.

    PBNA is a recognized and independent examination agency for VCA, SOG, IECEx and ATEX, among others. We do not provide training.   • Can I take a VCA exam in English?

    Yes, you can take both the VCA, VCA, VCA and VIL-VCU exams in English.

  • Can I request an emergency exam for VCA?

    You can always take the exam VCA within one business day. Especially for those who want to take the VCA-exam quickly, we have listed the exam options in the next 48 hours. Check out the options.

  • Can I retake the exam if I fail?

    There are no special retakes. If you did not pass the VCA, you can schedule another exam.

  • Can the VCA exam be taken in-company?

    Yes, you can also take the VCA in-company for several employees at the same time.

  • Can an employer book a VCA exam for its employees?

    Sure. You can also book an individual exam for an employee. Are there several employees who need to VCA-exam? Then you can also schedule an in-company exam.

  • Is VCA mandatory?

    VCA is not mandated by the Dutch government. But many companies do require employees to have or obtain a VCA diploma. For good reason. The purpose of a VCA is to work in a safe, healthy and environmentally friendly manner to prevent industrial accidents and injuries. This benefits everyone.

  • Is there a difference between VCA-exams for different professions?

    Yes. B-VCA is for employees in environments where safety is important. VOL-VCA is for executives and VIL-VCU is specifically for employment agencies that place people in environments where VCA is common.

  • Is there a minimum age for taking a VCA exam?

    There is no minimum age for taking an VCA.

  • Is an oral VCA exam possible?

    No, the exam is always written via a computer. However, you can opt for a read-aloud exam. The purpose of this written approach is to ensure the standardization and objectivity of the exam. All candidates are given the same questions and graded in the same way, which ensures a fair and uniform assessment.

  • In what languages can the VCA be taken?

    The VCA exams can be administered in the following languages: Dutch, Arabic, Bulgarian, German, English, French, Greek, Hungarian, Italian, Croatian, Lithuanian, Ukrainian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Slovak, Spanish and Turkish. Read more about VCA in other languages

  • I can't be at the exam. Now what?

    Would you like to cancel an openregistration exam? If so, this can be done free of charge up to 24 hours before the exam, after which the full exam fee will be charged. 

    Do you want to cancel an in-company exam ? No charge up to one week before the exam. If you cancel your exam between 1 and 7 days before the exam date you will be charged € 40,- to cover the costs of the exam leader. For cancellations within 1 day € 80,- will be charged to cover the costs of the exam leader.

     

     

  • I have dyslexia. Does PBNA offer separate exams for this?

    VCA:

    Yes, for VCA-exams you can choose a B-VCA read-aloud exam. With the VCA-reading exams, all questions are read aloud, but unfortunately with some new question types not all answers displayed! Candidates can have this read to them as many times as they feel necessary. The exam includes 40 questions and a maximum of 75 minutes is available for this purpose. The B-VCA reading exam can be taken in (almost) all EU languages.

    You can watch a demonstration of the VCA exam via computer here. As you can see there, each question and corresponding answers will appear on the screen one by one, so you can concentrate well on each question. Our examiner will help you log in.

    Unfortunately, the VOL-VCA and VIL-VCU exams are not allowed as read-aloud exams.

  • I am a safety expert (MVK/HVK). Do I still need to get an VCA?

    The MVK and HVK diplomas are equivalent to the VCA, but only if the holder of the diploma must work in an environment where safe working is required. Often, Safety Experts take the VCA exam anyway because it means they have fewer problems "at the gate" with companies that require VCA . After all, you are not registered in the Central Diploma Register (CDR) with an MVK-HVK diploma. 

  • I lost my VCA pass/diploma, can I order a duplicate?

    If you are in possession of a valid VCA or SOG diploma, this diploma will be listed in the CDR (Centraal Diplomaregister VCA). If a candidate unexpectedly loses the diploma, this entry in the Central Diploma Register will suffice. This is the only official source with which the validity of a diploma can be demonstrated.

  • How many questions do I need to answer correctly to pass?

    How many questions you have to answer correctly depends on how many points you can get for each question. Some questions require multiple answers, or you have to answer several partial questions. So you may also get a question partially right. You must get 65% of the total score to pass. At VCA-Basis this is a minimum of 2580 points out of 4000 points. For VOL-VCA and VIL-VCU this is a minimum of 4515 points out of the 7000 points available.

  • How many questions do I need to answer correctly to pass?

    How many questions you have to answer correctly depends on how many points you can get for each question. Some questions require multiple answers, or you have to answer several partial questions. So you may also get a question partially right. You must obtain 65% of the total score to pass. For VCA, this is a minimum of 2580 points out of 4000 points. For VCA and VIL-VCU this is at least 4515 points out of 7000 available points.

  • How long is a VCA certificate valid

    Your VCA certificate is valid for 10 years. The reason for this is that there are quite a few changes in the area of safety and regulations. So after 10 years, it is high time to get your VCA again.

  • How long does it take to receive my results and diploma?

    If you are taking an exam for VCA or SOG, you will, immediately after the exam, see whether you have passed. This is a provisional result. The official result will be reported to you or the client by e-mail within 3 days. Then, the official result will also be available via www.vca-uitslag.nl. Once you have passed, you can also view the free digital pass and secure it on your mobile phone.

    For other exams, you will receive the results within four weeks. The results will be communicated by e-mail and the diplomas will be sent the same day. We always send the diplomas to the client, this may be the training institute, the employer or you, as a candidate.

  • How are VCA-exams assessed?

    You can earn points for each question. The exams take place digitally and points are awarded automatically. You cannot score negative points.

  • How often are VCA-exams offered?

    You can take your exam daily VCA . You have a lot of flexibility in choosing a convenient date and time.

  • How soon after the exam will I receive my results?

    After completing all the questions, you will immediately see if you have passed. This is the preliminary exam result. Within one working day you will receive your official exam results and you can also download your VCA pass. You can use it to prove that you are in possession of a valid VCA certificate.

  • How long is a VCA certificate valid?

    An VCA is valid for 10 years. After those 10 years, you have to take another exam to renew your certificate. This is because safety regulations can change and it is important that you are always up-to-date with the latest safety knowledge. You can look up how long your certificate is still valid in the VCA.

  • How long does a VCA exam take?

    The exam VCA Basic and VCA-Green last 60 minutes. Also in other languages.
    The exams VOL-VCA, VIL-VCU and the pre-reading exam take 75 minutes.

  • What time do the VCA start?

    Once you pass your VCA, it automatically remains valid for 10 years. You can look up in the VCA register until when your VCAis still valid. However, it is wise to keep up to date with any changes in VCA. A lot can change in 10 years.
