The cost of obtaining your VCA

There are costs associated with obtaining your VCA.
In most cases, the cost is paid by the employer, but you may wish to obtain your VCA as a self-employed person or without an employer.

In any case, keep in mind the following cost types:

1. Exam preparation costs
2. The cost of the exam itself

1. Cost of preparation VCA exam

These costs are within your control.
What do you find the most comfortable preparation? An on-site course, e-learning or studying by yourself with a book and mock exams?

Online course

There are several providers of online courses. Keep in mind an amount of approximately € 150,- to € 175,- (ex. VAT), for the course as well as the exam.

Course on location

If you prefer an on-site course, the cost is obviously slightly higher than for an online course. Most VCA last 1 day, but if you have little experience, you can also opt for a multi-day course.
A one-day course, including exam and study materials will cost you at least € 225 (ex. VAT).

Book

If you are going to prepare for the exam without taking a course, you can also get all the information from the textbooks.

Wat het boek kost is afhankelijk van jouw keuze voor een digitaal boek of een fysiek boek. Een digitaal boek (ebook) bestel je vanaf € 19,50 (excl. btw). Een fysiek boek vanaf € 44,50.

In addition, the price varies whether you want to do VCA, VCA or VIL-VCU. Also, the books are available in different languages. These books are slightly more expensive.

Sample exams

Naast het boek, waar al een proefexamen bij zit, kun je aanvullende proefexamens bestellen om je voor te bereiden op het echte examen.
Vijf proefexamens bestel je voor € 14,50. Tien proefexamens bestel je voor € 17,50,- (excl. btw).

2. Cost VCA-exam

If you book an VCA course, pay attention to whether the fee includes or excludes the exam. Sometimes courses seem very cheap, but are a single course without an exam.

You can book an exam through PBNA. PBNA is an independent exam company that administers the VCA.
The cost of the exam varies.

The cost depends on:

• The type of exam you want to take: B-VCA, VOL-VCA or VIL-VCU and whether you want to take a written or read-aloud exam.
• Are you taking the exam in Dutch or one of the other 18 languages?

Een B-VCA examen in het Nederlands boek je al vanaf € 92,50,- (excl. btw).

Cheapest way to get your VCA certificate

De goedkoopste optie om je VCA-certificaat te behalen met een goede voorbereiding én het doen van het examen, is een combinatiepakket.
Dit combinatiepakket bestaat uit het benodigde boek, 5 extra proefexamens en het examen.
Kies je voor het combinatiepakket Basisveiligheid VCA, dan kost deze € 105,- (excl. btw).

Exam only

Of course, you are not required to prepare well for the exam. You can also take the VCA exam without preparation. Then it will only cost you the exam fee. Only the chance of passing is then a lot lower.
