Unit Ex 006 is aimed at testing electrical installations for explosive atmospheres. This unit is designed for professionals responsible for conducting tests to ensure that electrical installations in potentially explosive environments are safe and comply with relevant safety standards.
For the exam Ex 006, you need to know how to test electrical installations to determine whether they are correctly installed and safe for use in explosive environments. For this, it is necessary that you know the requirements for performing different types of tests, and can perform the tests according to these requirements. Such as insulation resistance tests, grounding tests and functional tests. Based on these tests, you can ensure not only that the installations work as intended, but also that they are safe to use.
In addition to testing electrical installations according to the standards, you must also know how to document and interpret the results of the various tests. You must also be able to identify potential hazards and defects based on the test results and act correctly based on these results.
For the exam Ex 006, it is a requirement that you also have the knowledge of unit 001 and have passed that exam (attestation), or take it at the same time as unit 006.
You have passed the exam when you have obtained at least 75% of the number of points:
The Ex 006 theory exam in English costs € 230,- (excl. VAT).
The Ex 006 theory exam in Dutch costs € 245,- (excl. VAT).
The cost for the Ex 006 practical exam is €465 (ex VAT).
The Ex 006 practical exam is usually taken in combination with the Ex 003 practical exam.
If there are multiple candidates, contact the Royal PBNA to discuss group exam options.
Zijn er personen in de groep die een aangepast examen nodig hebben? Neem dan contact met ons op via [email protected]. We kijken dan samen naar de mogelijkheden.
Upon successful completion of the Ex 006 exam (theory and practical), you can apply for a 5-year IECEx CoPC.
In addition to passing the Ex 005 exam, there are some prerequisites for applying for the CoPC:
If you want to apply for a personal certificate that includes unit Ex 006, it is necessary that you have also obtained the attestation of unit Ex 001. Ex 001 is about applying the basic principles of safety in explosive atmospheres.
To apply for a CoPC with unit Ex 006, you must demonstrate that you have sufficient technical training. For this purpose, we ask you to send documents such as certificates from training institutes and professional qualifications.
For Ex 006, you need at least 3 years of practical experience working on industrial electrical installations.
Proficiency in this competency area is assessed concurrently with competency area Ex 001 - 'Applying the basic principles of safety in explosive atmospheres' and performing tests of general electrical and electronic instrumentation and/or data communications installations.
Restrictions on scope will clearly demonstrate that the areas of competency apply to both those performing the work and those responsible. Restrictions on the scope of explosive protection techniques, a group or voltages are applicable to unit 006. Any scope limitations will be included in the application according to OD 502 (it can be found among the downloads at the bottom of this page).
