Changes to IECEx examinations from 1 September 2024

From 1 September 2024, there will be significant changes to the IECEx 05 theoretical exams. Royal PBNA, an IECEx 05 accredited Ex Certification Body (ExCB), will implement these changes. Starting from that date, all IECEx theory exams will be conducted using the IECEx software, GetCertified / YouTestMe. The multiple-choice and open-ended questions will be in English, but the open-ended questions can be answered in Dutch.

Practical exams can still be taken in Dutch or English. We are exploring the possibility of translating the questions into Dutch, but this is not expected to happen soon.

The use of IECEx software will change how exams are conducted. The main changes are:

  1. GetCertified / YouTestMe software will replace our current platform, Testvision. This will affect how you log in, and the layout will also be different.
  2. The exam will have two sections:
    a. Section 1: Multiple-choice questions
    b. Section 2: Open-ended questions
Section 1 must be completed first before starting Section 2.
You can scroll between questions within a section and change your answers.
All questions in a section are shown on one page. However, it is not possible to switch between sections.
  3. For multiple-choice questions, only one answer is correct.
  4. Open-ended questions must be answered fully and correctly. Partial answers will not be considered correct. This change aims to create more uniformity in global assessment.
