Scope
This unit of competency covers the evaluation of the completeness of a hazardous area verification file and the conformity with the explosion protection aspects of electrical installations within the framework of a visual or close inspection. This requires the skill to work safely in a hazardous area, evaluate a verification file, identify explosion-proof equipment with its associated certification and specified location, inspect a plant for compliance, and report and act on inspection results.
Pre-university education:
The applicant must have technical training (or equivalent) relevant to the application, with documents such as certificates from training institutes and professional qualifications, etc. For an executing person, at least 3 years of practical experience with industrial electrical installations.
For a responsible person, at least 3 years of practical experience with electrical Ex installations relevant to the scope of competence for which the certificate of competency is applied for, taking into account the limitations of the scope.
Competence in this area of competence is assessed concurrently with or subsequent to area of competence
Ex 003 - Installation of explosion-proof equipment and cabling or area of competence Ex 004 - Maintenance of equipment in potentially explosive atmospheres. Alternatively, competence in general electrical inspections also meets the primary requirement.
NOTE: For work on cabling and equipment that operates above 1000 V AC. or 1500 V DC, a person must be skilled in high-voltage circuitry and safe insulation.
Limitations of the scope:
Restrictions on scope will clearly show that the competence areas apply to both the people doing the work and the people in charge. Restrictions on the scope of a group or full scope apply to unit 007. Any limitations of scope shall be included in the application as per OD 502.
Exam:
You have passed the examination if you have obtained at least 75% of the points
Apply for CoPC:
After successful completion of the Ex 007 exam (theory and practice), the candidate can apply for a 5-year IECEx CoPC.
Cost of an IECEx Ex 007 exam:
The costs for taking the Ex 007 theory exam amount to € 195,- (excl. VAT) and for a
Ex 007 practical exam € 395,- (excl. VAT).
